Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data MatchChat collects, why we collect it, and how you can control it. It is written to reflect what the app currently does.

1. Data we collect

• Account: email address for code-based login or social login through Google or Apple. For social login, we receive only the email verified by the provider and never your Google or Apple password.
• Profile: name, photo, biography, date of birth for age calculation and adult verification, and search preferences such as gender and age range of interest.
• Location: precise geolocation at the time of check-in at an event, used only to confirm your physical presence at the venue. We do not track your location outside that moment. The venue Wi-Fi signal is informational and not mandatory.
• App activity: likes, matches, temporary chat messages, reports, and blocks you submit.
• Gifts and payments: purchase history for credits, gifts, and subscription. Payment processing, including card and PIX payments, is handled by a third-party payment gateway. MatchChat never stores full credit card data.
• Push notifications: device token used only to send alerts for likes, matches, and messages.
• Technical data: IP address for abuse prevention around login-code delivery, plus error and usage data needed to keep the app working.

2. How we use your data

• To confirm your identity and physical presence at an event;
• To show your profile to other people present at the same event and show their profiles to you;
• To process likes, matches, messages, and notifications;
• To process purchases of credits, gifts, and subscriptions;
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and misuse of the platform;
• To comply with legal obligations, where applicable.

3. Chat messages are temporary

Unlike most messaging apps, MatchChat conversations are ephemeral by product design. Messages expire automatically after a short period, even faster after they are read, and are not kept permanently in our main database. This is intentional and reduces how much historical conversation data is stored about you.

4. Who we share data with

• Other users: your profile, including name, photo, bio, and age, is visible only to people in the same event while both of you are present.
• Service providers: email provider for login-code delivery, push notification provider, payment gateway, and infrastructure provider. Each provider receives only the data needed to perform its service.
• We do not sell your data to third parties and do not use it for advertising outside the app.

5. How long we keep your data

Profile and account data are kept while your account exists. Presence, likes, and matches are tied to an event and automatically removed after the event ends and the validity window expires. Chat messages expire from minutes to a few hours, as explained above.

6. Your rights

You may, at any time:

• Access and correct your profile data directly in the app;
• Request deletion of your account and related data;
• Revoke MatchChat's access to your Google or Apple account, if you used social login, through those platforms' settings;
• Disable push notifications in your device settings.

7. Security

We use technical practices to protect your data, including identity verification by access code, encrypted connections through HTTPS, and access control for internal systems. No system is completely risk-free, and we continuously work to reduce vulnerabilities.

8. Children and teenagers

MatchChat is not intended for people under 18 years old, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated inside the app.
